Mark A. Latina, M.D., founder of LaserCare Cosmetic Centers, is an internationally renowned laser expert. He is Associate Clinical Professor at the New England Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine, on staff at the New England Medical Center and holds appointments at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Latina is a founder of LaserCare Cosmetic Centers. He provides laser training and on-going education for all LaserCare Cosmetic Centers staff.
Dr. Latina is a practicing ophthalmologist and an active researcher with a focus on laser applications and development. Over the past 12 years Dr. Latina has pioneered several new laser procedures for the treatment of glaucoma and holds numerous patents, which include the development of “Dye-Enhanced Gonioscopic Laser Sclerostomy” and “Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty.” Currently, Dr. Latina serves as a consultant for Lumenis Laser, Palo Alto, CA. where he is involved in overseeing the FDA clinical trials for the selective laser trabeculoplasty procedure that he developed.
Dr. Latina completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School in 1985. He was awarded a Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship and pursued subspecialty training in glaucoma, also at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is currently a member of the staff at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and has been a member of research staff at the Wellman Laboratory of Photomedicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Schepen’s Eye Research Institute, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Latina graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Tufts University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He received his doctorate in medicine from University of Connecticut Medical School. He has published more than 40 scientific papers and book chapters, and also participated as a guest lecturer or faculty member in over 30 symposium and medical continuing education courses. Dr. Latina is a founder of LaserCare Cosmetic Centers. As founder, he provides laser training and on-going education for all LaserCare Cosmetic Centers staff.
Loretta Andreottola, R.N., R.E., a MA Registered Nurse and Registered Electrologist has been practicing in Reading and Boston for over 20 years. Loretta’s background includes extensive medical experience and education relating to the field of skin and hair including surgical nurse and burn unit nurse at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston and wound care nurse and consultant in nursing homes throughout Massachusetts. In 1982, Loretta founded the Loretta Andreottola Hair Removal Center in Reading, MA. She has taken extensive training in Laser Hair Removal and has 15 years full time experience in this field and with the many new cosmetic lasers as that have recently become available on the market. She has held nursing positions in cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery administering Botox® injections as well as Collagen, Juvederm and Restylane facial fillers.
Loretta is currently a member of ASLMS (American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery).
